My first documented kill!!!

I finally caught up to a squirrel the other day. I tried to play with it but it died. Then I was sad :-(

The Battle of Day 5

So I woke up feeling great on Wednesday. Jake did not.

Watch (This one's kinda loud):

Day 5 Video Update

Jake and I have unique perspectives when it comes to 4AM on day 5.

Jake must be hitting his stride...

My midnight nap came and went. I remember setting the alarm, but apparently forgot to push the "on" button. Jake was there to save the day...

Turns out Elliot can whip up some good eats!

Elliot put on his chef's outfit. Here's a bit of our experience...

Night 1 - Video Update

I'm not home, so I don't have the same video conversion tools. Forgive the blockiness when the camera moves around...

Clocky = The Alarm Clock of Doom

So I still haven't missed any naps. I will admit, though, that this morning was very, VERY, very difficult for me. I woke up, got out of bed, turned Clocky off. Then I reset it for 15 minutes later. When it went off, I got up and reset it again. The 3rd time Clocky went off I got up, reset it, and put it in Jake's bedroom. After he woke up, I stayed in bed massaging a cramp out of my shoulder for a few minutes. I heard him go into the bathroom and turn on the fan.

The rest of the story goes like this:

While I'm waiting for the video to convert to flash, I want to take a moment to say thank you to Matt and Jenna for taking us out to dinner tonight. It was an awesome time - I always have fun with you guys, thanks for the call! Good food and I'm stuffed, too. Thanks Hickory Park , and thank you to the Weber family.

3AM Interview

I took the camera outside during an early morning cigarette. Here's what Jake had to say...

Das Boot

Here's a bit of the party from last Saturday. This sequence happened to be while I was at a wedding, but I surely joined the festivities when I arrived. I'll try to post some of the "later on" content in the wee hours of the night.

Until then, enjoy! Oh, and can you say "Champaholics"?

Gearing up for nap #30. Here we go again...

I haven't missed a nap since the last update. I will admit, though, that I've had some help waking up. Thanks Mike and Jake. The longest sleep I've taken in was about 50 minutes. I have fallen asleep randomly twice - once on the couch, and another in my computer chair (I really thought Jake wouldn't notice).

Driving again today - leaving around 8:30. I'm pretty excited for the day, as my buddy Cory is getting married. The wedding is in Manchester, and then I've got to attend a housewarming party in Iowa City. I'm predicting the end of my nappy streak around midnight tonight or 4AM tomorrow. Drinking generally puts me under for a while. We'll see though.

  • Nappiness:I'm falling asleep and napping hard. It's been tough to fight the snooze urges upon waking, but it's been 3 or 4 naps since I actually fell back to sleep.
  • Energy: As long as I'm moving, I feel great. Just got done with a 20 minute impromptu workout, and ready to shower before 8 o'clock hits. The real workouts will begin Sunday night or Monday, when we get back to town. Update, I think I might be starting to crash, now that it's closer to 8. Need to shower, still.
  • Cognition: I haven't felt this alert from 5-7AM since I worked morning shift at Fareway.
  • Mood: I'm a cheerful guy. What else can I say? Progress makes me happy.
  • Overall: I have officially beaten the 10 and 20(unannounced) nap challenges. As long as I wake up at 8:30 here, we'll be looking at 30. I'm pretty sure this is as good or better than I ever did during the 45 day trial earlier this year. I'm excited! I've also been pretty productive - doing 2 loads of laundry, editing GrumpyJake, working out, and practicing guitar a bit over the last 6 hours - when I'd normally be asleep. The benefits of polyphasic sleep are possibly endless...
